Have you enjoyed the National Football League and the postseason so far? In the wildcard round – the first winner was the Tennessee Titans coming from behind and beating the Kansas City Chiefs on the road. The second winner was another road winner as the defending NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons went to Los Angeles and beat the Rams. On Sunday – both home teams came away with wins. The Jacksonville Jaguars held off the Buffalo Bills in the first game, and then in the nightcap, the Saints beat the Panthers in a NFC South battle. Now we move to the divisional round. There are two games Saturday and two Sunday. That will lead to the NFC and AFC title game next week. After a week off, the first Sunday in February will be Super Bowl 52 from Minneapolis. Atlanta Falcons -3 over Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles are the top seed in the NFC, but they are underdog when they host the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday. The Falcons are the defending NFC Champions, but the 6th seed in the postseason. The Falcons worked the Los Angeles Rams over in the wildcard round. Matt Ryan needs one more win as a starting quarterback to get to 100 in his career. That’s better than Nick Foles. Foles is in for the injured Carson Wentz. This game comes down to quarterback play. Despite not putting up sexy numbers, Matt Ryan is the guy to take in this game. Do not be surprised if the Falcons get back to the Super Bowl. This is a hungry team, with some great talent. The Falcons win on the road on Saturday.
New England Patriots -13 over Tennessee Titans
The New England Patriots are looking to get back to the Super Bowl once again. The Patriots came from behind to beat the Falcons last season. Tom Brady is 40 years old and still playing some of his best football. He has Rob Gronkowski, who is going to be awfully tough to defend. They are taking on a Titans team that had a tough time reaching the postseason, and needed a little of a miracle to take down Kansas City in the opening round. Look for New England to keep an eye on Derrick Henry, and also limit Marcus Mariota’s ability to run the football. Mariota will have to throw the football, and that’s not a good ingredient for the Titans. Look for the Patriots to win this game easily over the Titans.
Pittsburgh Steelers -7 over Jacksonville Jaguars
Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers have revenge on their minds. The Steelers only dropped three games all season, and one of them came in embarrassing style to the Jaguars. Jacksonville’s defense was all over the place, and picked off five passes of Big Ben. Now, Antonio Brown looks to come back, and that gives Pittsburgh all sorts of weapons to use. The Jaguars are going to have a tough time moving the football on the Pittsburgh defense. Blake Bortles is going to have to use his arm to beat the Steelers. He does not have the receiving weapons, and the Steelers are not going to allow the Jaguars to beat them on the ground. Pittsburgh beats up on the Jaguars, ending a fun Jacksonville story.
New Orleans Saints +4 over Minnesota Vikings
Drew Brees, Sean Payton their weapons are on the road at the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are a team that seem to win with smoke and mirrors this season. The Vikings tied the Eagles for the most wins in the NFC this season. Look for the Saints, who played and beat the Panthers to take advantage of some of the Minnesota rust in this game. Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram were held in check last week. Look for them to run wild in this game, and beat up on the Vikings defense. The Saints are the only underdog to win during the divisional weekend, and if our picks hold true, will host the NFC title game.
