Everybody is well aware that at Bet365 Sports, you have a fantastic choice of betting markets across a wide range of sports. Every day there are hundreds of thousands of bets available across

However there are times when punters might want a change from betting on real life sports events and at Bet365 Sport, there is a perfect alternative in the world of Virtual Sports.

What are the origins of Virtual Sports?

If like many youngsters you frequented arcades at the seaside or at fairgrounds across the UK from the 1970s onwards then there was one horseracing betting game which was almost ubiquitous across the country. It was a game where you could bet  (usually 2p or 5p) on one of several horses which were controlled mechanically by the machine.

You’d placed your bet in the slot for your choice of horse and the race would then be run and if your horse won (which it inevitably never did), then you’d receive your payout at the advertised odds. The horses were moved mechanically by the machine using cogs and gears until one passed the finishing line and the race was completed.

Essentially, Virtual Sports are a modern day equivalent of those early fairground games, only much more up to date and instead of using a complex (and huge) machine, instead a computer program now generates the outcome of the virtual sport in question.

What Virtual Sports are on offer at Bet365 Sports?

At Bet365 Sport there are a choice of eight different Virtual Sports to play (although two are listed under the Motors tab). They are:

  • Virtual Horseracing
  • Virtual Greyhounds
  • Virtual Motor Racing (In the Motors section)
  • Virtual Speedway (In the Motors section)
  • Virtual Soccer
  • Virtual Cycling
  • Virtual TennisBet365 Virtual Sports Horseracing
  • Virtual Trotting

As you can see, most of these sports offer a form of “race” based game, but two Virtual Tennis and Virtual Soccer offer something a little different from race betting.

Indeed, it may seem strange to even think that you can faithfully recreate Tennis or Soccer in a virtual environment, but Bet365 Sport have managed to do this in a very specific way. A way that works not just in terms of offering high quality betting, but which allows punters the chance to bet on many matches in a short space of time.

We’ll deal with the options in Bet365 Virtual Tennis in a future article, but for this article, we are going to take a closer look at what is available when it comes to Virtual Soccer.

How does Virtual Soccer work?

Virtual Soccer works by offering punters odds on a choice of six different betting markets based on a virtual match between two soccer teams.

In Bet365 Virtual Soccer, the matches are arranged into one of three fictional competitions:

  • Premiership – Which is based on the Premier League
  • Superleague – Which is based on the Champions League/Europa League
  • World Cup – Which is, as the name suggests, based on the World Cup and features international teams rather than club sides.

Real life data is not included in the virtual soccer game, the teams are fictional (even those with real life names) and there is no individual player data included in the game.

Each game takes around three minutes to complete from start to finish. This includes 90 seconds at the start during which bets can be placed, then there is a highlights package lasting around 60-80 seconds, then finally the results page shows the result of the match and which of the six betting markets selections were the winners.

What makes Virtual Soccer work on Bet365 is that each game has a defined set of parameters which allows the software to offer different odds for different games on each of the betting markets. Each game, for example, can have no more than four goals scored and teams are weighted in terms of strength, but there is also a strong random element involved which means shock results can and do happen.Bet365 Virtual Football

Let’s now take a look at the different betting markets you can get bet on in Virtual Soccer at Bet365.

Virtual Soccer Betting Markets

You can bet on any of the six following betting markets for each Virtual Soccer match at Bet365:

  • Match Winner (Home Team, Away Team or draw)
  • Number of Goals in the Game (0, 1, 2, 3 or 4)
  • Correct Score (a choice of 15 bets. Home team or Away team to win 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 3-0, 3-1 or 4-0) or a choice of three possible draws (0-0, 1-1 or 2-2).
  • Double Chance (A bet where you back two possible outcomes for the game, Home Team and a Draw, Away team and a Draw or the Home or Away team to win)
  • Total Goals (A bet on whether there will be Over or Under 2.5 Goals in the game)
  • Asian Handicap (A handicap bet where teams are handicapped by goals or fractions of a goal which is applied to the final score to see if your bet wins)

You place your bet on these markets in the same way as you would any other bet on Bet365, simply by clicking on the odds to add the selection to your bet slip and then entering your stake and clicking the Place Bet option.

What exactly is Virtual Soccer and can I win on it?

Bet365 Virtual Soccer Page 1If you approach Virtual Soccer with the mindset of a soccer punter wanting to research potential results and work out which team or scoreline has the best chance of success, then you will not find what you are looking for. Virtual Soccer is essentially a modern day game of chance, similar to that horseracing arcade game we mentioned  early in the article.

However, that doesn’t mean it is without merit. Chance games alone, such as roulette or slots, are hugely popular, especially with casino players and many punters will find wagering on these Virtual Sports games, such as soccer, as a nice break.

Yes, you can win money playing the game, but in truth, there isn’t a scientific approach you can take to the game, in much the same way that there isn’t a secret to cracking the slot machines. You simply place your bet and hope for the best.

What is nice about the game is the highlights package, which is neatly done with clever animations and even a little commentary to add colour to the game.

With kick off times staggered so that you can enjoy one soccer game every minute across the three competitions, there’s a lot of football you can enjoy in a short space of time with Bet365’s superb Virtual Soccer game.
